Passion, Flare...
Monday, June 28, 2010

Darrell:

To me, there are 2 most important things a sportsmen should have in order to excel in his area of sports. Passion and flare.

Passion, it determines how much you love the sport and how much effort you will be willing to put in just in order to improve and move on to the next level. A sportsman without the passion for his sport will not go far as he is not eager to play or train. Only people who truly enjoy and love the sport will be willing to train hard and at the same time, enjoy the sport.

Flare. Some of us had a discussion on the definition of this word. Ryan believes that it is a kind of attitude, a kind of character, something that keeps a player slightly arrogant and cocky but aids in his performance. Cren and Derek think it is some kind of in-born talent, a kind of ability, the potential to do well.

I believe it is a mixture of determination on court, along with the ability to do well when required, the ability to excel in sports. It is something that is inborn, something that keeps a player fighting till the very last minute. I believe it is the kind of fire in a player that will keep him unbeaten, keep him in a state where he only wants to win, at all cost.

Passion and flare. Some of us have it and some of us don’t. It’s all inside us. There is no way to develop them or a way to remove them. They are part of us, they are what shape us into the players we have became today.

Do you have it? Or do you have either? If you have neither, it should be time you consider whether you should continue playing floorball, cause you might just be wasting time…

If you have either or even both, my advice, keep going don’t give up, cose~ you will definitely succeed oneday…
